In this graphic from Le Monde, the leading social networking websites are shown for each continent in the overlaid graphs. The map shows the leading website for each country that they had data about, which leads to the many blank areas of the map. Apart from not being very visually pleasing, this graphic has a few flaws. First, I would be much more interested to know the concentrations per country. Second, the variable that they judge is millions of hours spent on each site per month, but it seems like they just chose August of '07. This would significantly distort the data, as a site like Facebook probably has a much bigger spike in usage when more college students are at school and not on summer vacation. Third, I would also want to know how many users there were per country, not just how much time was spent online, because a relatively low number of users might distort the levels shown by using the sites all the time.
