Masters Golf Graphics

So there is no link to these graphics, but I wanted to draw people's attention to the graphic re-creations of the courses and the ball flights for the televised Master's golf tournament this weekend. They are really effective 4-dimensional graphics: movement and time are dimensions, as well as the typical elements of coloring and shading. These graphics are, in effect, complex maps. What makes them useful and interesting are their very comprehensible nature. These graphics are a very good way of isolating individual factors in the path of the ball, which are very diffcult to capture in a comprehensible manner on camera in real time because of the speed of the ball and the unpredictability of the balls' path. The effects that they illustrate, e.g. information on wind speed, movement of the ball depending on moisture in the air etc. are isolated by the graphics in a comparable way to layering on maps: one factor can be highlighted by the graphic by removing all of the nunnecessary and confusing information which you get when you watch the balls path in real time.
