This is an example of a three dimensional graphic that has only 2 continuous variables (year and number of users). The third dimension is devoted to a discrete "category"--type of computer usage. It's a good way to aggregate all the information, and to break down the parts of a whole. However, incorporating a third dimension makes the reader think that there is another quantity being conveyed by the depth of the bars, which there isn't.
